Tidal Coffee is a laid-back café nestled right by Seven Mile Beach, designed with a modern shipping container that cleverly faces the morning sun to make the most of the coastal light. This spot naturally attracts both beach walkers looking for a solid caffeine fix and families wanting a casual place to recharge with quick bites in a relaxed setting.

The outdoor seating setup highlights much of Tidal Coffee’s appeal. With picnic tables lining the front, the café feels open and welcoming, especially on sunny days when customers prefer to soak up the warmth and views. There’s also some undercover balcony seating, which is handy when the weather turns, though space there is a bit limited.

Coffee here draws positive attention for its richness and consistency, often reminding visitors of regional blends elsewhere in Australia, suggesting a thoughtfully curated roast. The cups themselves, sourced from NotNeutral, reflect a small attention to ethical detail that locals appreciate. Alongside coffee, the menu leans toward simple, satisfying fare like brioche brekky burgers and fresh cookies — perfect for a casual morning or midday stop.

Locals often come by post-beach walk or plane spotting at nearby vantage points, making Tidal Coffee a natural pit stop. The café is dog-friendly, with a water bowl set out front, adding to the inclusive community feel. Off-street parking on both sides of Surf Rd makes dropping by relatively hassle-free, even on busier weekends.

Overall, this café suits anyone looking for a friendly, no-fuss place to grab a strong coffee and a bite in a sunny, seaside atmosphere. It feels particularly inviting for families and casual visitors wanting to linger in pleasant outdoor spaces rather than formal sit-down dining, and it serves well for a quick energizer before or after some local exploring.

Great little cafe in Seven Mile Beach for yummy quick bites and rich coffee. Really great vibes and very family friendly. We sat outside which was nice to be in the sun but there was some limited undercover seating too. Will come back!

What a beautiful spot for a coffee and brioche brekky burger after a beach walk. Off street parking on both sides of the road, four picnic tables out front, undercover seating on the balcony, dog water bowl, NotNeutral coffee cups, and nice to see the shipping container building has been orientated to capture the warm morning sun

Great container cafe! Been here a few times now and it’s very popular. Tasty coffee that reminds me of North Queensland, great cookies, and good service.

Lovely spot to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine. Sipped on a delicious Chai latte made with heart and impactful flavour.

This is my favorite coffeeshop in Hobart. Close to the beach, the vibe is so lovely, but most of all the people that work there. I asked them several times about the music they play, and then they just made a playlist and sent it to me, and the had such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I came here as often as I could, and would then go walk the Tangara trail with different people. This place starts off the day just right and with some extra sparkle.
